About the Webolution

This blog has been set-up as part of Newcastle Libraries ‘Library 2.0 Webolution’ project, known as the Webolution, to encourage staff to experiment and learn about the new and emerging technologies. Web 2.0 aims to facilitate creativity, information sharing, collaboration and user participation. The objectives of this program are to:

  • Encourage exploration of Web 2.0 and new technologies by Newcastle Libraries staff staff.
  • Provide staff with new tools (that are freely available on the Internet) to better support a valuable mission: Gateway to knowledge, Life long learning, increased opportunities and social support for all.
  •  Reward staff for taking the initiative to complete 9 self-discovery learning activities.

The Learning 2.0 program is loosely based upon the State Library Web 2.0 program that was rolled out in 2006.

The design of this online program is completely built on Web 2.0 technologies that are freely available on the Internet. These sites include: WordPress, FlickrYouTube, & Bloglines.
